Car sourcing / The search and the checks

Find the car
you actually want.

Tell us what the car needs to do, what you want to spend and where you will use it. We agree the brief, find candidates, speak to sellers and inspect the strongest options. You get the findings and decide whether to buy.

Discuss a car search

Based in Austria. We agree the search area and confirm travel and specialist availability before starting. You can buy from another European country or the United States; the car’s destination is part of the brief.

BMW 740d at the dealer during our inspection
From our inspection work: an ex-rental BMW 740d with 4,000 km. The buyer negotiated and bought it after reviewing the cosmetic findings.

01 / The work

From a brief to checked candidates.

A model and a budget are enough to start the discussion. If you are still choosing the model, we work that out first: use, space, journeys, running costs and the compromises you will actually live with.

  1. 01

    Agree the brief

    • Model or use case, must-have equipment, acceptable age, mileage and condition.
    • Car budget, buying costs, destination and timing; search area and the work to be done.
  2. 02

    Find and screen candidates

    • Compare listings, identify the contractual seller and request the available records.
    • Clarify price conditions, repair history and gaps before arranging a journey.
  3. 03

    Inspect the strongest options

    • Check the car at the seller’s: body, accessible mechanical parts, diagnostics, interior and documents.
    • Test drive where permitted. Arrange a lift or specialist assessment separately when needed.
  4. 04

    Explain the decision

    • Photographs, findings, outstanding checks and our recommendation.
    • Discuss the price and the seller’s terms; record which defects or promised work matter before payment.

02 / A candidate in practice

4,000 km still left things to discuss.

This year-old 740d came from Sixt’s rental fleet. No diagnostic faults were found. Rental use made the bodywork, wheels and interior particularly relevant. The dealer had not washed it, which made checking dark paint less convenient.

The cosmetic issues were minor and could be addressed with polishing. We documented them, the client negotiated and bought the car. A useful inspection can support a purchase as well as stop one.

03 / Scope & cost

Agree the work before the search.

The complete price is agreed before you book. It depends on the brief, search area, travel and any specialist work. We separate the fee for our work from the car budget, travel, workshop bills and transport or registration costs, so you can see what is included and what needs a separate quote.

Included search work
Seller conversations, online checks and standard inspections form part of the agreed search. We confirm the area and travel costs before starting.
Up to three approved cars
The agreed search covers up to three candidates approved after inspection. Cars rejected on our checks do not use an approved result. If the seller sells an approved car before you can buy it, we keep looking without counting it.
When the search ends
Buying a suitable car completes the search. If you pass on three approved cars or change the agreed brief, we discuss the cost of continuing before doing more work.
Additional arrangements
A lift, marque specialist, battery report, transport, import or registration support needs its own agreed scope and cost. Regulated services use appropriately authorised providers where required.
